Select Choir concert is December 11, 2017

Select Choir

The North Haven Middle School Select Choir is comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who show an interest in vocal performance and display refined musical skills. Any student in the North Haven Middle School Chorus is invited and encouraged to audition for the Select Choir.

Auditions are usually held after school in the Fall. Students will be notified of the dates and times of the auditions in their regular music classes as well as over the morning/afternoon announcements.

Students who audition are scored on the following areas: Pitch, Sound, Tempo, Rhythm, Articulation, and over all Task Commitment. Students audition rank will be based on their performance and demonstrated “task commitment” in Chorus class. Students will also be asked to sight sing a melody, perform several scales and clap a rhythm sheet.

The Select Choir will usually perform two or more times a year. All students in the group are required to attend all performances.

Select Choir is considered a vocal group; however, depending on the make-up of the group there may be some stage movement or dancing in conjunction with the singing.

Students will be encouraged to use their creative abilities as well as their musical skills to create their final performances.
