Gamerz Club

Gamerz Club

(Info for Students and Guardians)

Skills reinforced: Teamwork, patience, tolerance, sportsmanship, age appropriate socialization, friendship development, and emotion management

Gamerz Club is an opportunity for students to socialize and have fun together based on their common passion for video games.  Students will have the chance to play multi-player games against each other, developing socialization skills through a common interest and discuss gaming strategies and preferences in general. Games will be approved on an individual basis. Rated "M" games will not be approved. We will have a variety of games ranging from classic retro games to well-known games that most students will recognize. If students would like to bring in any games, accessories, or systems to share, than a general guardian permission form will need to be completed in advance (see attached). Donations of consoles, accessories, etc. are also acceptable with written permission as well. Students are welcome to bring their own handheld gaming systems (PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, etc.) AT THEIR OWN RISK. The school will not be responsible for lost or damaged items.

Students will be expected to get along with all other students in the club and follow normal school behavioral expectations.  Students who use inappropriate language or treat the equipment inappropriately will be warned and/or may be removed from the game/club. Any student may join the club, though students currently showing a PowerSchool grade of an “F” may not be able to participate until they are able to demonstrate academic improvement. This year I will be introducing the idea of a “Gamerz Directory” where participating families will get a copy of the directory so friendship connections can continue to develop after the club has ended. The directory will consist of names, contact numbers and email addresses of each student in the club J

(Please read below)

The club will be held each week on Thursdays and run from 2:00 - 3:45. Students will either NEED to have a ride home at 3:45. Pick up will be in front of the school. The first meeting is scheduled for October 5th to discuss club rules and the different games students might like to play. This meeting will be purely informational but will run until 3:45.

Due to the high interest in the club, student membership will be on a rotating basis. With each group, new students will be invited to join in order to allow for everyone interested to participate. If you are not part of this first group to become involved, than you will be added to a list for an upcoming group. Information will be given regarding which session the student will join.

Please have this form signed by a guardian and returned to Mr. Sansolo by September 29th if you are able to participate in this club. You will be made aware of membership by October 2nd.
